About Khenpo Sonam
Khenpo Sonam received his Khenpo 'degree' after 12 years of study and practice in the Nyingma Shedra (Teg Gui Leg Shed Ling - College for Learning the Nine Yanas) in Nepal and Sikkim, under the guidance of H.H. Chatral Sangye Dorje Rinpoche (from whom Khenpo received the Longchen Nyingthig), H.H. Penor Rinpoche (from whom he received the complete Palyul transmission), the principal master of the school Khenchen Rigdzin Dorje (from whom he received the all the core Nyingma teachings and Nyingthigs) and Palyul Chogtrul Rinpoche. Khenpo Sonam was also blessed to study under H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche from whom he received the entire Dudjom Treasure lineage, under Kyabje Kunzang Dechen Lingpa from whom he received the transmission of his treasure lineage, and under H.E. Namkha Drimed Rinpoched, from whom he received many heart transmissions of the Ripa Lineage, including the Tagsham Yeshe Tsogyal practice.

In short, Khenpo Sonam has received full transmission of the Nyingma canon, and holds a special lineage of Mahamudra teachings from Kagyu masters (Gedun Rinchen and Dorje Lopon Ngawang Tenzing) of his as well. Khenpo Sonam has had the aspiration to open a center for a number of years, and his root lama, Kyabje Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, gave him his blessing to do so almost 7 years ago, bequeathing the name L'hundrup Choling (Land of Spontaneous Accomplishment of the Dharma), but the time wasn't yet ripe, as Khenpo was involved in the Dharma activities of Lama Tharchin Rinpoche at Pema Osel Ling in Santa Cruz, CA. Now with Stupa construction and consecration completed at Pema Osel Ling, Khenpo is fulfilling his aspiration and commitment to open a center in Los Angeles to bring the Dharma to all those who are seeking it.
